Luke Shaw spent the night in an Eindhoven hospital for primary treatment in the double fracture of his right leg he suffered on Tuesday’s ECL game where they lost 2-1 at the Philips Stadion.

Shaw was tackled from behind by Moreno during the Champions League group stage match in the 15th minute, trapping the 20 year old’s right foot, which bent at angle causing the leg to break.

Unbelievably, the Mexican defender was not punished for the harsh challenge which occurred in the penalty box. Luke Shaw was seen leaving in tears and it was visible the man who tackled him was also affected by the incident.

Moreno said he is very sorry and feel very bad since he was involved in the accident and it could not be any worse.

United manager, Louis Van Gaal, criticized the tackle after the football match, but his opposite manager, Phillip Cocu, maintained his words by saying his defender is not a dirty player.

When asked if he played the ball and committed a foul on Shaw, Moreno said he does not think it was a foul and in this kind of situation, he does not care if it is a foul and feel bad for him and his family. He does not know the gravity of the injury yet but he himself had a setback during the World Cup and he knows what it takes and how bad it can be. Moreno hopes Shaw recovers quickly and comes back as soon as possible.

Luke Shaw is expected to leave Eindhoven on Wednesday or the day after to have an operation in Manchester. The United and England defender tweeted on Tuesday night to thank everyone for the messages and support.

The United manager hopes to see the young player back to the squad this season itself but he’s not a doctor to know the exact length for the recovery. It is normally 6 months for double leg fracture.

Meanwhile, the game ended 2-1 in favor of PSV Eindhoven. Memphis Depay had put United ahead and Moreno equalized in first half injury time. Then Luciano Narsingh made it 2-1 for PSV in the second half with a header.
