This inhabitant of Bel-Air-Rivière-Seche and his girlfriend were operating in the style of Bonnie and Clyde. Only in Flacq, Sehzada Sohun, 24, and Samma Litasha, 22, allegedly committed six robberies using violence. The young woman was brought before the district court of Flacq, Thursday, March 31. Like her boyfriend, she needs to answer to a provisional charge of theft.
The work led by the men of Sgt Rakesh Luchmun of the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Flacq, which led to the arrest of the couple. Everything started on Friday 25 March and based on certain information, Sehzada Sohun was apprehended.
Booty estimated at Rs 200,000
During his interrogation, the young man confessed his involvement in these six mobile phone thefts with violence in the village of Flacq. His modus operandi is always the same. He approaches his victim on a motorcycle and will then, politely, ask if he can use the cell phone to make an urgent call. Once the device is in his hands, he makes way to escape.
Samma Litasha was arrested last Wednesday. She was responsible for finding a buyer and in those six cases, she sold cell phones to an Indian national based in Mauritius, Meman Musabhai Imran, a mobile dealer 36 years. A cell phone that sells for Rs 10,000, she would sell it … for Rs 500. The booty, estimated at Rs 200,000 was recovered.
All are held in police cells. This investigation of the CIU has also established the couple’s involvement in two other cases in the West, one case in Curepipe and another in Port Louis. Therefore, the suspects will be questioned by officers from other divisions.
