Considered as the main suspect in the murder of the little Eleana Gentil, he is now being sued before the Intermediate Court for indecent assault on his daughter.
Arnaud Boodram recently appeared before the magistrate, Raj Seebaluck at the intermediate court on a charge of indecent assault on his daughter. The offense was committed on January 3, 2014 in Cité Mangalkhan. His daughter was then 11 years old.
Arnaud Boodram, aged thirty years old, has pleaded not guilty. His evidence was produced and read in court and the defendant denies having committed the acts alleged against him. He explained that he is separated from his wife and his daughter live with him. He said that on the 3rd of January 2014, he went to pick up his daughter at Rose-Belle around 6PM. His daughter then spent the night with him. According to the indictment, the crime was committed while the girl was already in bed.
As part of the investigation, police also listened to the brother of Arnaud Boodram, as well as his companion. The latter told the police that he heard noises from the room, and the girl complaining of having aches. She said that she immediately reported what she heard to her companion.
The house of Boodram has two bedrooms, one for each brother. After listening to his companion, the brother of the accused broke into the room of Arnaud Boodram and got beaten. However, in his testimony, Arnaud Boodram said his brother was attacked because he was under the influence of alcohol. The next hearing has been scheduled for the 3rd of June 2016.
On the other hand, Arnaud Boodram is the first suspect arrested in connection with the investigation of the Major Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT) on the murder of Eleana Gentil. He was arrested last April 17, 2015.
The body of the girl was found on the 11th of April, 2015, 11 days after her disappearance, only a few meters from her house in Cité Anoska, 16em mile, Forest Side. The body of the girl, aged 11, was in advanced state of decomposition. After several months in detention, the police had indicated that they had no objection to his release on bail. Arnaud Boodram was finally been released on the 15th of October, 2015, after paying a bail of Rs 15,000 and have signed a debt commitment of Rs 100,000.
