Mevish Purmessur is the winner of the ninth edition of the World Wetlands Day Youth Photo Contest. This competition allows young people to discover the professions in wetlands through photography. This year, over 500 young people from 15 to 24 years around the world participated. “I was at Mon Choisy when I saw this fisherman with two fishes and I took the picture,” says Mevish Purmessur. It was his grandfather, a former fisherman who motivated him to choose a fisherman like him.
With this distinction, the young enthusiast photographer will have the privilege of visiting a wetland of his choice in any country of the world. There are more than 2200 wetlands around the world, known as Ramsar sites.
