Forest Side: An Unemployed Robbed The Trade Of His Father

A hardware store in Forest Side has been the target of a burglary on Saturday, between 6 and 8PM.

The owner, 50 years of age, complained to the Curepipe police station on Sunday. His 23 years old son was arrested last Monday by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Curepipe and he confessed the theft he committed.

Several iron bars and plywood were stolen and the value of the loot is estimated at Rs 50 000. On Monday, the criminal brigade of Curepipe arrested Suliman J., 23, the owner’s son. The victim fell naked on learning that the thief was none other than his son.

When questioned by investigators, Suliman J., unemployed, said he needed money to afford what his needs. “Since I’m not working, I stole iron rods and plywood hardware of my father and I sold them to Nicolas P., a resident of Forest Side to get money. Vivian D., an employee of my father helped me,” says Suliman J. to the investigators. After interrogation he was taken into police custody.

On Tuesday, Vivian D., 26, and Nicolas P., 35, were arrested by the CID of Curepipe and have confessed. After their interrogation, J. Suliman and his two accomplices appeared before the court in Curepipe.

Provisional theft charges and possession of stolen property have been brought against Suliman J. As for Vivian D. and P. Nicolas, they are provisionally charged with possession of stolen property. To regain liberty, they have each provided a deposit of Rs 5 000. The investigation is being made by the sergeant Nuyandowa and is overseen by the chief inspector Omrawoo.
