The Council of Ministers took note on Friday, June 17 on the appointment of Navin Beekarry as the Director General of the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC).
Navin Beekarry thus made his comeback to the ICAC since he was Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission from 2002 to 2005. He succeeds Anil Kumar Ujoodha, fired from his job in December 2014. Since then, it’s Kaushik Goburdhun who was acting as General Director of the ICAC.
Navin Beekarry holds an LLM in International Economic Law at the London School of Economics, according to the government statement after the Council of Ministers. He is a “certified anti-money laudering and a certified fraud examiner.”
