The Pope-Hennessy Police is urged to Tranquebar at 2:45 p.m. on Monday. A group of people playing dominoes spotted a thief who is about to flee by the window of a house he had just robbed.
Frightened, the man got stuck in the house. While he had already thrown out a bag containing various objects he thought he would take away. Eight wallets, laptop, mobile phone and documents from the home owner – birth certificate, driving license and passport were all found in the bag.
The two police officers who made the trip had to perform two searches in the house before finding the suspect hidden behind a cupboard upstairs.
Shocked, the man had to admit that he actually robbed the house he knew well as he have worked for the owner, a director of an insurance company. The robber claimed that the owner of the house did not pay him for the work he did.
Aged 37, the suspect was arrested and held in Pope-Hennessy Police cell. The hospital attendant who also works on a part-time basis as security guard at the Perdrau stable will be brought before the court in Port Louis on Tuesday.
