Grégory Injured During A Training: The Coach Forces Him To Play On

Injured during a training match organized by the Mauritius Football Association (MFA), Gregory aged 14 came out with a broken left leg and right arm. The father of the teenager accused the coach not to have alerted the emergency and informed the parents.

The incident occurred on June 23. After a fall during training, the coach asked Grégory to rise despite the excruciating pain he felt. “Il m’a dit de rincer mon pied. J’ai dû attendre la fin du match pour qu’il me ramène chez moi,” says the teenager.

Furious, Fitzgerald, father of Gregory, called the coach. “Je lui ai reproché de ne pas avoir porté secours à un enfant blessé. Une trousse de premiers soins complète doit d’ailleurs être accessible durant des activités sportives. En tant que responsable de l’équipe, il aurait dû, lui ou quelqu’un de la fédération, informer immédiatement les parents,” protested the father of the teenager.

This lack of communication and compassion annoys Gregory’s parents, who question the functioning of the federation. The team of Défi Quotidien has tried repeatedly to contact the coach or the communications manager of the MFA, but in vain.
