Haig Gilchrist posted the pictures of the choppy crossing on his Instagram page and said it was an ‘insane’ day.
A Sydney deckhand has captured an amazing image of the Manly ferry being swamped by monster waves.
One snap shows a huge wall of water about to crash into the side of the ferry, as a crew member tries to negotiate the tilting deck.
Deckhand Haig Gilchrist posted the pictures of the choppy crossing on his Instagram page.
“It was only for a few hours it went a bit insane. Made it pretty busy with swell and sail boats”, he wrote in the comments, adding: “Great day to be working.”
In a profile on website Beyond the Wharf, keen photographer Gilchrist reveals he has worked on ferries for nine years has spent the last six summers on the beaches of Japan working as a lifeguard, where he has also taken some stunning images.
