Deckhand Haig Gilchrist posted the pictures of the choppy crossing on his Instagram page.

“It was only for a few hours it went a bit insane. Made it pretty busy with swell and sail boats”, he wrote in the comments, adding: “Great day to be working.”

In a profile on website Beyond the Wharf, keen photographer Gilchrist reveals he has worked on ferries for nine years has spent the last six summers on the beaches of Japan working as a lifeguard, where he has also taken some stunning images.
